Teaching Philosophy
I feel that teachers can have a great impact on their students' lives. Whether it be sparking their interest in a new topic, providing academic help, or just showing that they care, teachers can make their students feel special in their own way. Therefore, I believe it is our job to inspire our students, and support them and their ideas. This includes being open to alternate assignments, or new perspectives. Looking back, I can think of teachers that inspired me to work harder, dig deeper, and explore what is out there in the history and literature world. These are the ones I will always remember, and I aspire to be like them everyday. I want my students to be engaged and feel empowered in their learning. I want to inspire them to explore the topics that interest them most. Real learning doesn't take place in a classroom where the teacher is instructing people to open their books to page 324, but instead happens when the students and engaged in hands-on, student driven discussions and activities. I hope to achieve this and more in my classroom, and hopefully inspire my students like my favorite teachers inspired me.
